Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV) In Development.

Sources with access to Rockstar Games claim the next installment is likely to hit in 2012. It is said to be 'well under way' and is in the process of having incremental changes made to it (minigames, etc). The source, reportedly close to the 'Take-Two' subsidiary, said "It's the big one." Unfortunately no further information was disclosed by the source, but could this just possibly be the start of some exciting publicity set up by Rockstar in preparation for the next installment in the popular series?

Some other information pointing to the production of GTA V was found in multiple casting calls.

Casting Call from Take-Two:
  • Pedeaston, "a man-boy love activist who just got released from an Indonesian prison", is between 40 and 45 years old.
Pedeaston hosted the WCTR radio show that can be heard in GTA: San Andreas. In GTAIV, Pedeaston is arrested by Indonesian police for suspected child molesting.

  • Matthew, "a liberal young male who believes in a conspiracy made by republicans to undermine America" is between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Jose, "a white creepy man who thinks that technology is a poison against the wilderness" is between 30 and 40 years old.
  • Anthony, "a young, fast-talking boy fighting for the right of young boys to drink alcohol and have sex" is between 10 and 15 years old.
These cast listings are most probably for radio stations (a popular and well-loved feature of Grand Theft Auto), as it is suspected that casting for main story characters will be much more secretive until Rockstar is prepared to make announcements concerning characters and storyline, much closer to the release date (hopefully no later than 2012, 4 years after the last installment)

What will the graphics look like? That's something that can only be considered once we see some actual gameplay - not screenshots, but actual gameplay - that is preferably rendered by console, as to see the minimum and maximum resolution and achievements of the graphic detail. Remember back in 2008 when GTA IV's graphics were staggering? "Wow they're so lifelike, the city is breaaaathing". And now we look back, and they're not so beautiful, especially in comparison to the likes of Battlefield or Killzone 3. Well, I'll be expecting that Rockstar will blow us away again, especially with 4 years worth of production time up their sleeves, but as usual - only time (and gameplay) will tell.

As with past installments, Grand Theft Auto V will be available on Playstation 3 (PS3), Xbox 360 and PC.
